HISTORY OF TELUGU DEPARTMENT

    From the beginning the Telugu Department of Women’s College (established in 1962) is very prestigious and has been bringing laurels to the institution year after year. In the beginning it was under private management and later on was taken over by the government of Andhra Pradesh in the Year 1966.

The very first staff member of the department is Mrs. Suryakantam garu. She has a PhD. Degree and she is a dedicated lecturer and a good speaker. She has god knowledge of music. She was transferred and promoted as a Principal.

The numbers of posts in the Telugu department at that time were seven. Dr. K.Satyavathi garu PhD. holder in Telugu is also another prominent lecturer who was transferred to this college. She received a prize from the sahitya Academy for her book “Tanjavoor Sahityam” in the year. This book she had witted when she was a student of PG.

She conducted many Radio programmes, and is a well known speaker in Telugu all over Andhra. She was transferred to Rajahmundry as a teacher for P.G.Courses in Telugu in the Rajahmundry Arts College. She retired recently as a Reader’ ikn Telugu.

K. Mangayamma garu, the daughter of Kurdurthi Eshwardath garu, he was a well known person in A.P. Mr.G.Bhanu the head of the department holding a PhD in Telugu is a well known poet and a story writers G.B.Sarojini who is a dedicated lecturer in this department is famous for her efficient teaching.
